Resetting Your Mindset

Resetting Your Mindset

Introduction: When Restless Days Just Keep Coming

Even when I was keeping up with work and scrolling through social media like usual, there was this strange feeling—like I wasn’t really here.

My schedule was packed, but my mind felt detached.
As if I was drifting through the days without really being in them.

In my last blog, I shared how I use meditation during anxious times—especially those quiet morning and evening moments that help calm future-related worries.

But this time, I want to talk about something a bit more subtle.
Not overwhelming anxiety, but that everyday feeling of being just a little “off.”

That strange lightness, that unsettled feeling, that mental fog.

The key, I realized, was finding a way to reset my inner compass—to return to a grounded way of seeing things.
And for me, the tool that helped me do that was the Gassho meditation app.

When My Mind Was Scattered + What Is “Mindset,” Anyway?

There was a stretch of time when I felt like I was doing all the right things, but nothing was landing.
I felt scattered, pulled in different directions by little things.

It was as if I had no buffer between me and the outside world.
Small comments would sting, simple setbacks would spiral, and my confidence started to wobble.

Later on, I realized:
What I had lost was my inner anchor—my mindset.

At first, “mindset” sounded like such a buzzword.
But it’s actually quite simple: it's the way we interpret events, the tone of our inner voice, the lens through which we experience daily life.

And when that lens gets foggy or tilted, it’s easy to lose your sense of direction.

Resetting your mindset doesn’t mean forcing yourself to be positive.
It means gently returning to a kinder, more grounded perspective.

What It Means to Reset Your Mindset

To me, mindset is like a mental posture. A habitual way of looking at things.

For example:

Instead of thinking, “I failed, so I must be no good,”
shifting to, “That didn’t work out, but I can learn from it.”

That small shift changes everything.

When your attention is constantly focused outward—on tasks, messages, comparisons—
you start to lose touch with your own baseline.

So resetting your mindset means returning to that internal space.
It’s not about becoming stoic or emotionless—it’s about finding a place of balance.

And for me, that reset came from building small daily rituals—quiet, grounding moments where I could gently reconnect with myself.

My Daily “Mindset Reset” Practices

Here are three small practices that have helped me reset my mindset—day by day.

Each one is paired with sound or voice from the Gassho meditation app, which has become my anchor.

● Morning: A Sound-First Start to the Day

Right after waking up, I open the Gassho app and play a bell or sutra chant.
I let the sound fill the room quietly while I breathe.

Then, I name how I’m feeling that day in a single word.
Something like: “anxious,” “hopeful,” “unsettled,” or “steady.”

It might seem like nothing—but it makes a big difference.

Instead of starting the day by checking messages or scrolling social feeds,
I start it by tuning inward—anchoring myself before the world rushes in.

That moment reminds me: Today begins with me.
That’s a simple but powerful shift in mindset.

● During the Day: A Calming Phrase to Return To

There are always moments during the day when I get flustered.

A meeting runs long. Someone says something offhanded. I see a post that makes me feel behind.

In those moments, I pause and say to myself:
I’m allowed to move at my own pace.

Then I take one slow, deep breath.

It’s almost magical—how that one breath brings me back into my body.
My shoulders relax. My jaw loosens. The mental swirl begins to calm.

This phrase has become a kind of mindset reset button.
It reminds me that I don’t need to chase after someone else’s rhythm.

● Evening: A Gentle Check-In Without Judgment

At night, I often feel tempted to replay everything that went wrong that day.

But instead of reviewing it with judgment, I now approach it with curiosity.

With a soft bell sound or chanting track from the Gassho app playing in the background,
I ask myself:
What did I feel today?”
Not what I accomplished, not what I failed at—just what I felt.

Even saying something like, “I was a little too tense today” helps me release it.
It lets me recognize the emotion without clinging to it.

With the sound gently playing, I imagine myself placing the day down on a soft cushion.
I don’t have to fix anything. Just let it rest.

This small ritual has helped me fall asleep with more peace and fewer racing thoughts.

How My Meditation App Became My Mindset Reset Switch

The Gassho app has become my favorite tool for daily mental resets.

What I love most is that it doesn’t force you into guided meditations if that’s not your style.
Sometimes I don’t want words—I just want sound.

The simple tones of a bell.
A short chant in a language I don’t even understand.
A quiet ambient track.

That’s all it takes to tell my body and mind: It’s time to come back.
It’s time to reset my mindset and breathe again.

I’ve begun to associate these sounds with clarity.
Just hearing them brings me back to myself.

They create moments of mental breathing space in an otherwise crowded day.

In Closing: “Resetting” Is Just Gently Returning

Some days, I get overwhelmed.
Other days, I get distracted by comparison or discouraged by uncertainty.

That’s okay.

What matters is not that I always stay grounded,
but that I’ve built a habit of returning.

Mindset isn’t something we have to master.
It’s something we can nurture gently, one breath at a time.

And for me, the Gassho app has been a quiet but steady guide—
a reminder that I can always come back to myself.

● A Small Invitation for Today

If your mind feels scattered today—
try this:

Open the Gassho app.
Choose a sound you like.
And for just three minutes, close your eyes and listen.

That tiny act of pausing might be all you need
to begin returning to a more grounded place.

Next time, I’ll be writing about 3 Ways to Regain Inner Peace—a blend of mindfulness tips and how I use meditation apps to support them.
Hope to share that with you soon. Feel free to drop by again.
